RAGE IN MY EYES has just been confirmed as the opening band for Iron Maiden in Porto Alegre, Brazil, on October 9th at Grêmio Stadium. The band was approved by Iron Maiden itself after a careful selection. Maiden returns to Porto Alegre with the “Legacy of the Beast Tour”, that also brings The Raven Age, that has Steve Harris’ son on guitar.

During its career, that started back in 2002 under the name of Scelerata, RAGE IN MY EYES has always delivered great music and energy-packed shows to the audience. In an official statement, the group says: “Rage In My Eyes is honored to have been selected to open for Iron Maiden in our hometown Porto Alegre. Everyone in the band is a huge Iron Maiden fan, and having an opportunity like this is absolutely fantastic. Somehow we’ve strengthened our relationship with Iron Maiden, since we’ve done over 50 shows as Paul Di’Anno’s (Maiden’s former lead singer) backing band. Rage In My Eyes is ready and will surely deliver a great show.”

The relationship with Iron Maiden dates back to the time when, still under the name Scelerata, the band was Paul Di’Anno’s backing band on his Brazilian tours from 2009 to 2014. There were over 50 concerts played with this legendary vocalist, when they performed great classics from the albums “Iron Maiden” and “Killers”, as well as songs from Paul’s solo career. This experience gave them a strong background and great experience on the road, playing in many cities throughout Brazil. They also did the opening shows for every single date.

With the newly released music video for “Death Sleepers”, RAGE IN MY EYES kicks off a new era on its journey, paving the way for the forthcoming new album, “Ice Cell”, which will be released next month. Jonathas Pozo (vocals), Magnus Wichmann and Leo Nunes (guitars), Pedro Fauth (bass) and Francis Cassol (drums) worked between the years 2017 and 2018 in recording and producing the album. The drum parts were recorded in Los Angeles (USA), while vocals, guitars, bass and accordion were recorded in Porto Alegre. In this new album the musicians became even closer to the Gaucho traditions, adding elements of Milonga – folk music from Southern Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina – to their Heavy Metal sound.

In the albums “Darkness and Light” (2006) and “Skeletons Domination” (2008) the group already had inserted the accordion to some of their songs. The worldwide renowned accordionist Renato Borghetti recorded on the band’s first album and the accordionist Matheus Kléber recorded on the second. In the new single “Death Sleepers” there is again the participation of the accordionist Matheus Kleber. This is a trend that should be even more solidified in the near future. This mix of styles occurs naturally, due to the band’s roots. Magnus Wichmann, guitarist and composer, is grandson of the legendary Gaucho musician Teixeirinha.
